All beautiful lines are adaptations of those which are commonest in the external creation; that, in proportion to the resemblance to natural work, man cannot advance in the invention of beauty, without directly imitating natural form.  John Ruskin

I know how important a beautiful landscape is to you.  I really do!  Between visiting clients and analyzing their surrounding environment I am constantly designing to improve that relationship between them.  Whether, you enjoy your landscape for recreation, entertaining or just relaxing, a well thought out design prior to implementation will not only enhance our connection to nature but will save you a lot of hassle and cost.

As a landscape designer I strive to make that connection with the client and environment.  Like painting a portrait of the owner, the completed work should reflect the owners interests, character and delight.  I believe that from these beautiful portraits we will remake that friendship between people and places.

Experience:

I have been in the landscape industry for over fifteen years and was blessed to have the opportunity to explore the wonders of garden design.  The beginning of the journey involved working in nurseries and volunteering time in botanical gardens to gain knowledge in plant characteristics, ecological integrity, and to become aware of what was utilized in the trade.

I began studies in garden design and read many books pertaining to landscape design and theory. I completed the George Washington University Landscape Design Program and received certification for the identification and cultural requirements of woody plants in the mid- Atlantic region.

Being thoroughly engrossed in the design of landscapes I decided to continue my studies in the area of Landscape Architecture.  My studies continued at the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University - Washington- Alexandria Architectural Consortium, involving a Masters Degree in Landscape Architecture. Currently, I teach in the Landscape Design program at George Washington University.

I have worked many years in landscape design/build firms and understand the construction process.  From this experience, I am able to guide the client through the maze of design decisions that are necessary from concept to implementation.  The relationship between client and designer, is an important one, together we will forge a landscape that provides;  good structure,  utility, and delight.
